When did they meet?

I'm still trying to figure out when Josh met Sophia, It had to be between Novenber of last year and January I'm figuring since he did Rain Man at this time last year. Does anybody know if they met before Rain Man? Because if it was after, he didn't waste anytime asking her to go to Cali with him. I'm sure she went home for Christmas. I don't know why it's on my mind or why I care, but it's bugging the crap out of me.
