Absolute Josh Hartnett

The premiere fan-managed social network for Josh! Founded December 26, 1998

I heard that it is Celtic knot of protection it is a symbol of space activity, development in space and «a way of an exit from chaos». There is also other interpretation that it is love knot - man's and feminine's unification - the self-closed system. Does someone know precisely? What does the tattoo mean actually?

It symbolizes his heritage.  He's part Irish.

ok Ruth, I see your point. Frankly speaking I don't like tattoos too, especially when  girls have it... It seems to me vulgarly and doesn't decorate girls. I hope that Josh won't overdo with tattoos :-)

The Celtic Knot tattoo that Josh Hartnett has is located on his left shoulder blade, as previously mentioned. Done in all black, white, and grey, this tattoo measures up to approximately 2.5 inches in diameter. Celtic knots are typically representative of the complexities of nature, specifically the oak tree. The oak tree was said to be symbolic of strength, leadership, and wisdom among other things, which in turn is reflective upon the symbol of a Celtic knot. Its origin is also believed to be Irish, which is a nationality prominent in Hartnett’s heritage.

yah' right, maybe it's their self expression; but for me there are many ways to express yourself ...not on that way...
