Joshua Daniel Hartnett was born in San Francisco on July 21, 1978. He has two younger brothers (Jake and Joe) and a sister, Jessica. He became interested in acting quite by chance. He had dreams of a football career, was the star of his school team, but a knee injury forced him to change his plans for the future. Encouraged by his aunt, he took part in a school performance of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and that's where it all began. After two years, he started acting studies in New York, but quickly dropped out and moved to Los Angeles in 1997. He appeared in a television commercial and landed a role in the sitcom "Cracker". This was his breakthrough. Later, he starred in bloody horror films: "Halloween H20: 20 Years Later" and "They". In 2001, he took part in the blockbuster "Pearl Harbor". His most recent film is "Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre".
