Splendid Film has acquired Josh Hartnett starrer "Bunraku" for German-speaking territories and the Benelux countries.
The Cologne-based distribution company picked up at last September’s Toronto International Film Festival Peter Weir's survival drama "The Way Back," starring Jim Sturgess and Colin Farrell, Guy Moshe's star-studded fantasy actioner "Bunraku," with Josh Hartnett, Ron Perlman and Demi Moore, as well as Jalmari Helander's Finnish holiday comedy "Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale" and Lee Jeong-beom's hit Korean actioner "This Man" -- aka "Man from Nowhere" -- about a lonely man with a dark hidden past who goes on the warpath to save a kidnapped girl.
Splendid plans to release "The Way Back" in cinemas in 2011, while "Rare Exports" hited screens in December 2010. "Bunraku" and "This Man" will go out directly as home entertainment releases.

Thanks Olivier, a valuable information as always. I’m happy that we will get Bunraku in Germany, so the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Sure aloha, too bad it goes straight to DVD but hey…my mourning keeps within reasonable limits...hehe
