The money the production of the film got from Lexus is not enough to cover the production costs and eventually make a profit out of the exploitation of the film. Therefore they reached an agreement with YouTube to restraint the diffusion of the film to North America where Lexus operates. If they managed to get a large number of viewers to watch the film and get therefore expose to Lexus' advertising, they will be in a good position to convince others companies which operate globaly to invest/sponsor the release of the film in other areas of the world. It is all about money my dears as always.

Comment by Olivier on March 10, 2011 at 9:21am: Well Lexus the automaker which sponsors the all thing only operates in the US. Therefore it is quite normal they are not willing to pay to release the film worldwide (with the appropriate subtitles or dubbing). Therefore the production team for the film will have to find a global multinational company willing to sponsor the release of 'Girl Walks Into a Bar' in Europe, Asia or Latin America. Or do it the classical way ie. find distributors to release the film in theaters or on DVD.
