Josh Hartnett to play the Night Stalker of Los Angeles?

Actor Josh Hartnett might be playing the Night Stalker of Los Angeles – if true crime writer Philip Carlo has anything to say about it, that is.
His book, “The Night Stalker: The Life and Crimes of Richard Ramirez,” has just been optioned by Soundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell and his producing partner (and brother-in-law) Nick Karaylannis.
Mickey Rourke, who attended Carlo’s book party last week at the Greenwich Hotel, will play the main character, and Carlo has said he’d like Hartnett for the other lead character.
Carlo was diagnosed with ALS in 2004, but has written two books since then, including “The Butcher: Anatomy of a Mafia Psychopath.”
Sounds like an interesting project, especially with Rourke and Hartnett in the lead roles. The two worked together on 2005’s “Sin City.”

I know it is pure speculation. Carlo wants Josh (rumor), what about the producers, what about Josh. But if ever this works out, no way Josh and Mickey will be involved in the same project. There will be 2 movies based on 2 different books by Carlo. I am not even sure the production team for Rourke's movie is the same team than the one which optioned the rights of the screen adaptation of 'The Night Stalker'.

Carlo has other Hollywood news. Chris Cornell, lead singer of Soundgarden, and his producing partner (and bnrother in law) Nick Karaylannis have just optioned “The Night Stalker: The Life and Crimes of Richard Ramirez,” from Carlo to turn it into a movie. Cornell is quite the Renaissance man: he and his wife Vicky, and Nick, own a Paris nightclub called “Black Calvados.”
Anyway, the real hero of this item is Phil Carlo. He was diagnosed with ALS in 2004, but that didn’t stop him from writing two more books. His new one, “The Butcher: Anatomy of a Mafia Psychopath,” is released today by Harper Collins. Mickey Rourke, who attended Carlo’s book party last week at the Greenwich Hotel, will play the main character on screen.

This article does not make any sense at all. Rourke is supposed to be "The Butcher" in the screen adaptation of 'The Butcher: Anatomy of a Mafia Psychopath.” Now it seems Philip Carlo wants Josh to portray the satanist serial killer Richard Ramirez in the screen adaptation of “The Night Stalker: The Life and Crimes of Richard Ramirez” . It is 2 different books, 2 different murder chronicles and therefore 2 different movie projects. In short, Josh and Mickey will not be working together.
