21st Century Leaders is proposing the establishment of Doha-based ‘sustainability centre’ that will promote sustainable living worldwide.
Founder and Director of 21st Century Leaders Charlotte di Vita MBE announced the plan at a star-studded gala dinner at the Grand Hyatt Doha which honoured a number of ‘unsung heroes’ and stars including Sir Ben Kingsley, actor Josh Hartnett and soprano sensation Monica Yunus.
‘Our wish is to build the first ever arts and sustainability centre in Doha, to leverage popular culture to inspire and empower communities worldwide to live a sustainable lifestyle.
‘Qatar is in a unique position at the centre of the world, and Qatar’s natural and human resources allow it to take a significant leadership role in the 21st century on issues like clean tech, global and environmental protection, climate change and sustainability, because it has the financial resources to invest in a green future for the benefit of the whole planet.
Josh Hartnett received the Outstanding Environmentalist award for his work with “Global Cool” and his efforts to educate people about climate change.
