Lech Majewski’s upcoming “Valley of the Gods,” starring Josh Hartnett, will be handled in international territories by Hong Kong- and Amsterdam-based Fortissimo Films. Production of the sci-fi fantasy begins in early 2016.
The story, written by Majewski, intertwines an ancient Najavo legend with the narratives of a writer with an unbridled imagination, the richest man on earth, and Grey Horse, a feisty young Native American. The narrator and writer, played by Hartnett, also possesses the ability to alter reality.
The film is produced by Royal Road Entertainment’s (“Blue Blood“) Filip Jan Rymsza and Carla Rosen-Vacher, and Majewski on behalf of Angelus Silesius (“The Mill & The Cross”) and The Safran Company’s (“The Conjouring“) Natalia Safran.
Fortissimo will begin sales at the Toronto Film Festival and continue at the American Film Market, when additional casting will be announced.
The deal was finalized by Fortissimo’s senior VP of acquisitions, Berenice Fugard and Royal Road Entertainment’s Filip Jan Rymsza.
An established filmmaker and artist in his own right, Majewski has held individual retrospectives have featured in a variety of galleries and museums, including The Museum of Modern Art in New York City, The National Gallery in Washington D.C. and The Louvre in Paris.
“Lech is bringing the rich, visual language he honed on ‘The Mill & The Cross’ to a story writ large in imagination and scope,” said Royal Road Entertainment’s Rymsza.
